Director General of the Interior Ministry Opens Senior Mediation Training

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, of the Federal Government of Somalia, Mr. Abdulkadir Ali, opened the Senior Mediation Training, placing stronger institutional mediation capacity at the heart of Somalia’s peace and state-building agenda.

He highlighted that durable peace depends not only on resolving disputes, but on equipping institutions with the skills to manage tensions early, sustain dialogue, and build trust across communities and political actors. Strengthening these capacities, he noted, is essential to making reconciliation more effective, preventive, and nationally owned.

The Director General also welcomed the continued partnership of Principles for Peace and the United Nations in supporting Somalia’s efforts to strengthen mediation practice, institutional resilience, and long-term peace-building.
