Director General of Interior Ministry opens National Local Government Coordination Meeting

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Director General of the Ministry of Interior, Federal Affairs and Reconciliation, Abdulkadir Ali, opened the National Local Government Coordination Meeting, advancing a more connected and results-driven approach to local governance across Somalia.
Bringing together Federal Member State Ministries of Interior and the Banadir Regional Administration, the two-day platform is designed to move coordination beyond information-sharing—creating space for governments to compare performance, identify common bottlenecks, exchange practical solutions, and strengthen how local institutions deliver.
The Director General emphasized that effective decentralisation must ultimately be felt by citizens through reliable services, responsive institutions, and local administrations with the capacity to act. By connecting experience across Somalia’s different administrations, the meeting is helping turn local lessons into stronger systems and a more consistent standard of governance at district level.
