Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, today opened the Somalia-European Union Business Forum in Mogadishu.
The forum, organized jointly by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Republic of Somalia and the European Union Delegation to Somalia, will run for two days on 5 and 6 October and brings together traders, investors, financial institutions, and officials from Somalia and Europe, including the European Union Ambassador to Somalia, László Eduárd Máthé, and European delegations that came to the country to participate in the forum.
During the forum, investment opportunities in the country are being showcased, particularly in agricultural production, livestock, fisheries, energy, the digital economy, technology exchange, and transport and logistics.
The forum is also featuring academic discussions where participants exchange views and experiences on developing the country's productive resources.
In his opening remarks, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized the importance of transforming the progress made in economic and institutional reforms into investment and cooperation opportunities that will boost domestic production, job creation, and increase income for citizens.
The Deputy Prime Minister also noted that such cooperation will give a greater role to Somalia's private sector, noting that Somali traders have brought the country through a difficult phase, and now face broad opportunities to contribute to the development of the country's production and economy.
