Defence Minister Urges Troops to Maintain High Readiness Ahead of Next Phase of Operations

Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Minister of Defence, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, accompanied by the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, today visited the Qorilow Military Training School in the Middle Shabelle region.
During the visit, Minister Fiqi commended the troops for their dedication and readiness to fulfil their national duties. He urged them to continue strengthening their training, discipline and operational preparedness in support of ongoing operations against Al-Shabaab.
The Minister reaffirmed the Ministry of Defence’s commitment to enhancing the capability and professionalism of the Somali National Army to strengthen national security and safeguard the country’s stability.
For his part, the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, encouraged the troops to make the most of their training and to uphold the highest standards of vigilance, cohesion and operational readiness in preparation for their national responsibilities.
The Commander said the troops training at the Qorilow Military Training School would play an important role in upcoming operations to liberate the remaining areas where Al-Shabaab continues to operate. He added that the ongoing preparations are intended to further strengthen the operational capability of the Somali National Army.
The visit forms part of the Ministry of Defence’s and the Somali National Armed Forces Command’s continued efforts to accelerate preparations for the next phase of operations against Al-Shabaab and to enhance the readiness of troops ahead of forthcoming operations.
