Defence Minister Hosts Dinner Honouring IMCTC Secretary-General and Delegation in Mogadishu

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, accompanied by Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, hosted a dinner in honour of the Secretary-General of the Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC), Major General Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghidi, and his delegation during their visit to Mogadishu.
The visit included the launch of IMCTC initiatives in Somalia, including the strategic “Peace Journalists” programme, aimed at strengthening the media’s role in countering extremist ideology and terrorism.
The dinner was attended by Somalia’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Mohamed Amin Sheikh Osman, senior SNAF commanders, Somalia’s representative to the IMCTC, the Director-General for Defence at the Ministry of Defence and other officials.
Somalia and the IMCTC reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation in counterterrorism, preventing the spread of extremist ideology and advancing initiatives that promote peace, security and stability in Somalia and the wider region.
