Defence Minister Fiqi Visits Pakistan’s GIDS Headquarters and National Defence University

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, who is on an official visit to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan leading a high-level delegation, today visited the headquarters of Global Industrial & Defence Solutions (GIDS) and the National Defence University (NDU) of Pakistan.
At GIDS headquarters, the Minister and his delegation were received by the Chief Executive Officer, Mr Asad Kamal, who briefed them on the company's capabilities in defence manufacturing, military technology, and advanced defence solutions. The two sides also discussed opportunities to strengthen cooperation in the defence industry, military capability development, and how Somalia could benefit from GIDS' expertise and advanced defence technologies.
The Minister also visited the National Defence University of Pakistan, where he was received by the President of the University, Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar. During the visit, the Minister received a briefing on the University's role in higher defence education, strategic studies, security research, and the development of senior military leadership.
The Minister was accompanied during the visits by the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Somalia to Pakistan, H.E. Sheikh Noor Mohamed Hassan, and the Commanders of the Somali National Armed Forces' Navy and Air Force.
