Defence Minister Fiqi Meets Families of Fallen Troops, Outlines New Welfare Plans

Mogadishu, (SONNA) — The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moallim Fiqi, and the Commander of the Somali National Armed Forces, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Mohamud, met with some of the families and children of fallen personnel who gave their lives defending the country.

The Minister and the Commander outlined the Government’s plans to care for the children of fallen personnel. They explained that the Council of Ministers had approved regulations governing their care and that a dedicated agency would be established to oversee their affairs and welfare.

The families were also informed that a school and a healthcare facility dedicated to the children would soon be established.

The Minister and the Commander emphasised that the sacrifices of fallen personnel would never be forgotten and that caring for their families and children is a national duty.
