Danab, Jubbaland Forces Destroy Seven Al-Shabaab Bases Near Jilib

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Somali National Army's elite Danab Commandos, supported by Jubbaland forces, destroyed seven Al-Shabaab bases during a planned operation on the outskirts of Jilib in the Middle Jubba region.

Military officials said the operation targeted militant hideouts, including Gambale, describing as one of Al-Shabaab's main bases in the area. Troops also seized equipment abandoned by the fighters.

The Somali military said the offensive is part of ongoing operations to improve security in Jubbaland and eliminate Al-Shabaab strongholds in Middle Jubba.

The operation comes days after airstrikes near Mahas district in the Hiiraan region killed 42 Al-Shabaab militants and wounded 12 others, highlighting intensified military pressure on the group across central and southern Somalia.
