Bicameral Parliament Leadership Discusses Reopening of the Eighth Session

Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The leadership of the two chambers of Somalia’s Federal Parliament held a special meeting on Monday at the residence of the Speaker of the Upper House to discuss preparations for the opening of the 8th Session of the 11th Federal Parliament.
The meeting focused on consultations and planning for the reopening of the parliamentary session, with leaders underscoring the importance of enabling Parliament to continue fulfilling its constitutional responsibilities.
Participants held in-depth discussions on Parliament’s role in advancing state-building, strengthening constitutional institutions, and supporting efforts aimed at promoting peace, stability, and development across the country.
The leadership agreed that the official date for the opening of the 8th Session will be announced in the coming days, following the completion of necessary preparations and confirmation of a full quorum in both chambers of the Federal Parliament.
The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring that Parliament carries out its national duties efficiently, transparently, and responsibly, while accelerating work on priority issues affecting the Somali people during the upcoming session.
