Benadir Authority Issues Super El Niño Warning as Heavy Rains Hit Mogadishu

Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Benadir Regional Administration has issued a warning over the potential impacts of Super El Niño across all 20 districts of the Benadir region, as heavy rains and torrential downpours begin affecting parts of Mogadishu.

The regional authority urged district commissioners to work closely with local communities and strengthen preparedness and emergency response measures to address flooding and other weather-related hazards.

District officials were also directed to respond quickly to emergencies, particularly in areas vulnerable to flooding, while coordinating with residents and relevant response agencies.

The administration called on communities to remain alert, follow official weather and early-warning updates, and take necessary precautions as the rainy conditions continue.
