Al-Shabaab networks near Bal’ad town destroyed in military operation

Mogadishu(SONNA)-Al-Shabaab militant group’s networks near Bal’ad town in middle Shabelle region were on Saturday destroyed and several members arrested during a military operation by Somali National Army, SONNA reported.

SNA Commander in the region, Abdullahi Mustaf Ali said the operation was aimed to target terrorist networks in areas near Bal-ad town in middle Shabelle region and make safe to the main road there.

He said that the army arrested some Al-Shabaab militants and destroyed terrorist networks in areas like Banyale, Durey, Halushin, Bula Dhagahow and Bula Moalim during the offensive.

Al-Shabaab militants often carry out an ambush attack against civilian trucks, armed vehicles and Hirshabelle State officials using the main road linking the capital to Jowhar town in middle Shabelle region in Hirshabelle state.
