MOGADISHU, Somalia – The Acting President of the Republic and Speaker of the House of the People, H.E. Sheikh Adan Mohamed Nur (Madobe), presided over a high-level ceremony in Mogadishu today to commemorate International Civil Aviation Day.
The event served as a platform to celebrate the significant milestones achieved by Somalia in reclaiming and managing its airspace. In his keynote address, the Acting President extended his gratitude to the leadership and staff of the Somali Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) and the Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation for their dedicated efforts in restoring full control over the country’s skies.
Speaker Adan Madobe praised the Somali experts and professionals currently managing the airspace, acknowledging their technical skills and patriotism. He urged the leadership of the Ministry and the Authority to prioritize human capital development, specifically calling for continuous and advanced training programs for staff to ensure the agency remains competitive and capable of meeting international standards.
On the legislative front, H.E. Sheikh Adan Madobe noted that the House of the People has already enacted critical laws designed to empower the Civil Aviation Authority. He reaffirmed the Parliament’s commitment to the sector, stating that the legislature stands ready to process and finalize any further regulations necessary to modernize and improve civil aviation operations.
The ceremony was attended by various government officials, aviation experts, and representatives from the international community, all of whom expressed appreciation for the substantial progress Somalia has made in the aviation sector.
