Mogadishu, (SONNA) – A high-level delegation led by Mr. Sultan Abdulrahman Al-Marshad, the Managing Director of the Saudi Economic Development Fund (SEDF), arrived in Mogadishu today following an official invitation from Somalia’s Minister of Finance, Mr. Bihi Iman Egeh.
The visit marks a significant milestone in strengthening economic cooperation between Somalia and Saudi Arabia. During their stay, Mr. Al-Marshad and his delegation will hold key meetings with senior officials from the Somali government to discuss developmental investment opportunities within the country.
Upon arrival at Aden Adde International Airport, the delegation was warmly welcomed by Finance Minister Biihi Imaan Egeh, alongside Somalia’s Minister of Energy and Water, Abdullahi Bidhaan Warsame, and the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Mr. Ahmed Bin Mohamed Al Mawlid. The Somali officials provided a briefing on the country’s current economic situation and outlined the agenda for the upcoming discussions.
Minister Egeh expressed his gratitude to Mr. Al-Marshad for accepting the invitation, stating:
“It is an honor to welcome Sultan Al-Marshad and his team to Mogadishu on this historic visit. During their stay, we will engage in crucial discussions to explore Somalia’s investment potential and agree on strategies to advance our economic development.”
The Saudi Economic Development Fund has been a key partner of the Somali government, playing a critical role in the country’s economic reform program. These reforms have significantly contributed to Somalia’s successful debt relief milestone, paving the way for enhanced financial stability and growth.
This visit is expected to further solidify bilateral ties and create avenues for impactful developmental projects aimed at boosting Somalia’s economy and improving the livelihoods of its citizens.
