Hargeisa, (SONNA) – A fire that erupted last night at the Radio Hargeisa Market in eastern Sanaag has caused substantial property damage, with firefighters struggling to contain the flames throughout the night.

The firefighting forces successfully extinguished the blaze late last night, as reported by the Commander of the Fire Brigade. However, details regarding the exact extent of the damage caused by the fire have not yet been disclosed.

The President of the State of Somaliland, H.E. Abdirahman Mohamed Abdullahi (Ciro), visited the affected commercial areas earlier today, gathering reports from officials who have been on-site since the incident occurred.

The Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Cadaala, expressed his heartfelt sympathy to the people who lost their property in the fires.

“May God grant better fortunes to those who lost their livelihoods in the fire that struck the Gobonimo Market in Hargeisa last night. We share in their pain,” he stated.

Some traders at the market revealed to the media that the fire could have been easily contained, but access routes for firefighting vehicles were blocked, allowing the flames to spread further.
