CAIRO, SONNA \u2014<\/strong> Somalia\u2019s Ambassador to Egypt and Permanent Representative to the Arab League, Ali Abdi Aware, said the Federal Government of Somalia is continuing intensive efforts and high-level contacts aimed at expediting the release of Egyptian sailors kidnapped from the oil tanker \u201cM\/T Eureka.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Ambassador stated that coordinated cooperation and diplomatic engagements are underway at multiple levels to ensure the safety of the sailors and facilitate their swift return to Egypt.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Ali Abdi Aware made the remarks during a meeting with Egypt\u2019s Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Affairs, Karim Sherif.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Somali government is deeply concerned about this issue and is maintaining strong contacts with all relevant parties to resolve the matter and secure the release of the kidnapped sailors,\u201d the Ambassador stated.<\/p>\n

He also underscored the importance Somalia places on strengthening cooperation with Egypt, particularly in the fields of security and maritime affairs, noting the need for closer coordination among countries bordering the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden to address shared security challenges and preserve regional stability.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Ali Abdi Aware further expressed appreciation to the Egyptian government for its continued support for Somalia\u2019s unity and territorial integrity, as well as its contribution to strengthening Somali state institutions, combating terrorism, and promoting peace and development.<\/p>\n
