Libreville, (SONNA) \u2014 The Department of Space and Satellite under Somalia\u2019s Ministry of Communications and Technology has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with China\u2019s Land Satellite Remote Sensing Application Center during the NewSpace Africa Conference 2026 in Libreville.<\/p>\n

The agreement was signed by Director of Space and Satellite Mohamed Abubakar Ismail and Deputy Director General Yu Dequan.<\/p>\n

The MoU aims to strengthen cooperation in the application of satellite imagery to support data-driven decision-making, innovation, and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

Officials said the partnership will enhance technical cooperation, promote knowledge exchange, and expand the use of satellite-based applications in key sectors.<\/p>\n

The signing underscores Somalia\u2019s growing engagement in regional and international space initiatives and its commitment to advancing science and technology for national development.<\/p>\n
