Mogadishu, SONNA \u2014<\/strong> The Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has received a comprehensive report from the Ministry of Ports and Maritime Transport outlining the country\u2019s progress in strengthening its maritime sector.<\/p>\n

The report was presented at the Prime Minister\u2019s office by the Minister of Ports and Maritime Transport, Abdikadir Mohamed Nur, alongside technical experts from the ministry. It highlighted the introduction of a modern system for registering boats and ships operating under Somalia\u2019s jurisdiction, ensuring they fly the Somali flag as an official reference.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Hamza Abdi Barre commended the ministry\u2019s leadership and technical teams for their efforts in advancing maritime governance, emphasizing the strategic importance of the sector to Somalia\u2019s economic growth.<\/p>\n

He further noted that the implementation of the new system will play a critical role in removing Somalia from the maritime blacklist, urging officials to expedite its rollout and ensure timely execution.<\/p>\n

The initiative forms part of the Federal Government\u2019s broader agenda to modernize key economic sectors, improve international credibility, and unlock the full potential of Somalia\u2019s maritime resources.<\/p>\n
