Mogadishu, SONNA \u2014<\/strong> The Director General of the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, Eng. Mohamed Hassan Abdille, has inaugurated a Training of Trainers (ToT) program on Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) focused on key Somali cereal crops.<\/p>\n

The training, delivered using high-quality agricultural manuals, is aimed at strengthening the capacity of agricultural extension workers from the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, as well as other agencies involved in agricultural extension services.<\/p>\n

The program seeks to equip participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to promote sustainable farming systems and improve food production across the country.<\/p>\n

By strengthening extension services, the initiative is expected to play a key role in supporting farmers, increasing productivity, and enhancing food security.<\/p>\n

The training is being implemented through a partnership between the Ministry of Agriculture and Irrigation, the Somali National University, and the SomRep umbrella, a coalition of international organizations working in agricultural development.<\/p>\n

Participants include agricultural extension workers from both federal and state levels, reflecting a coordinated national effort to improve agricultural practices.<\/p>\n

The training officially commenced on March 23 and will run until March 27, bringing together key stakeholders to advance Somalia\u2019s agricultural sector through knowledge-sharing and capacity-building initiatives.<\/p>\n
