Mogadishu (SONNA) \u2014 The Minister of Commerce and Industry of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Jamaal Mohamed Hassan, has announced that the ministry is developing a comprehensive policy aimed at boosting domestic production and strengthening the country\u2019s self-sufficiency.<\/p>\n
The minister noted that Somalia currently imports a wide range of goods that could be produced locally. In response, the ministry is prioritizing the expansion of industrial output to reduce import dependency while creating significant employment opportunities.<\/p>\n
\u201cWe can add value to our livestock exports\u2014processing animals into meat, utilizing hides for leather products, and even making use of bones. This will generate jobs and stimulate economic growth,\u201d Minister Jamaal said.<\/p>\n
He further emphasized that Somalia is well-positioned to enhance its local production capacity, citing access to broader markets such as the East African Community (EAC), which the country recently joined, as well as increasing demand in international markets.<\/p>\n
