Mogadishu, Somalia(SONNA)-<\/em>Hundreds of residents in Mogadishu took to the streets late last night to protest what they described as Israeli aggression following statements attributed to Israeli leadership regarding the recognition of a region in northern Somalia as an independent state.<\/p>\n

The demonstration took place at the Taleex intersection in Hodan district, Banadir region, where crowds\u2014many of them young people\u2014gathered to denounce the move and reaffirm their support for Somalia\u2019s unity and territorial integrity. Protesters carried placards and chanted slogans emphasizing national sovereignty and rejection of any foreign interference in Somalia\u2019s internal affairs.<\/p>\n

Participants said the protest was a response to remarks reportedly made on the 26th of this month by the Israeli prime minister, who indicated an intention to recognize Somaliland as an independent administration. The statement sparked strong opposition from the Federal Government of Somalia and segments of the public, who view the move as a violation of Somalia\u2019s sovereignty.<\/p>\n

Speaking to national media, several demonstrators said they were prepared to defend the country\u2019s independence and unity.
\u201cTonight, as Somali citizens, we are expressing our feelings and condemning the violation committed against our nation,\u201d said one young protester.<\/p>\n

Banadir Region Youth Chairman, Omar Farouq, said Somali youth were united in expressing their stance. \u201cThe youth of Somalia are ready tonight to show their feelings and stand for their country,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Another participant, Burhan Ahmed Roble, noted that the demonstration reflected widespread public sentiment in the capital. \u201cThe people of Mogadishu have clearly shown their \u0645\u0648\u0642\u0641 (position) against Israel\u2019s stance,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

The Federal Government of Somalia has consistently maintained that Somaliland is an integral part of the country and has rejected any unilateral recognition by foreign states. Officials and citizens alike have described such actions as contrary to international law and a threat to Somalia\u2019s national unity.<\/p>\n

The protest in Mogadishu underscores growing public anger and renewed calls for respect for Somalia\u2019s sovereignty amid heightened regional and international attention.<\/p>\n
