Mogadishu (SONNA) \u2013 The Prime Minister of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Hamza Abdi Barre, has inaugurated the Second National Conference of the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) in Mogadishu.<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s conference highlights the government\u2019s achievements in delivering free, efficient, and around-the-clock public services to Somali citizens through the national ID system.<\/p>\n

The event brought together senior officials from federal ministries and agencies, representatives from federal member states, international partners, and other dignitaries.<\/p>\n

NIRA\u2019s Director General, Abdiwali Timacadde, stated in his keynote address that the authority has registered more than one million Somalis since its establishment. He added that over the next three years, NIRA aims to register an additional 15 million citizens.<\/p>\n

The two-day conference will feature panel discussions and research presentations focused on strengthening Somalia\u2019s national identification infrastructure. This year\u2019s theme is: \u201cStrengthening the Fundamental Infrastructure for National ID Utilization.\u201d<\/p>\n
