MOGADISHU, Somalia \u2013<\/strong> The Deputy Prime Minister of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Salah Ahmed Jama, officially opened the Second Somali Disaster Resilience Conference in Mogadishu today.<\/p>\n

The two-day conference is being held under the theme \u201cThe Role of Communities in Responding to Disasters and Climate Change,\u201d highlighting the crucial role of community-based action in strengthening resilience and mitigating the impacts of climate-related crises across the country.<\/p>\n

Jointly organized by the Somali National Disaster Management Authority (SoDMA) and the University of Mogadishu, with strong support from Plan International, the event brings together key national and international stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Participants include ministers from the Federal Government of Somalia, the Chairman of SoDMA, the leadership of the University of Mogadishu, and hundreds of distinguished guests from various institutions, development partners, and civil society.<\/p>\n

The conference aims to foster dialogue, share best practices, and strengthen coordination on disaster preparedness, response, and recovery efforts, ensuring that local communities are empowered to take the lead in building a more resilient Somalia.<\/p>\n
