Mogadishu, (SONNA) \u2014 The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E. Hassan Sheikh Mohamud officially opened the Somalia\u2013U.S. Presidential Trade Summit in Mogadishu, a landmark event aimed at strengthening economic cooperation and attracting foreign investment across key sectors in Somalia.<\/p>\n

In his opening address, President Hassan Sheikh described the summit as an important milestone marking Somalia\u2019s transition from aid dependency to partnership and innovation, positioning the country as \u201ca new frontier for American and global investment, boosting local creativity and private sector growth.\u201d<\/p>\n

The President reaffirmed his government\u2019s commitment to enhancing trade relations with friendly nations, particularly the United States, to drive sustainable development and create new job opportunities for Somali youth.<\/p>\n

Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ali Mohamed Omar, noted that Somalia is now ready to attract global investments, highlighting promising opportunities in energy, agriculture, infrastructure, and fisheries.<\/p>\n

Somalia\u2019s Ambassador to the United States, Tahir Hassan Abdi, said fifteen American-owned companies are participating in the summit, reflecting growing international confidence in Somalia\u2019s business environment.<\/p>\n

Minister of Energy and Water Resources, Abdirahman Batan Warsame, underscored Somalia\u2019s significant potential in the energy sector \u2014 particularly in electricity, renewable energy, and water \u2014 and encouraged U.S. investors to explore these opportunities and contribute to the country\u2019s development.<\/p>\n

The summit underscores ongoing efforts to build a strong economic partnership between Somalia and the United States, promoting shared growth, innovation, and long-term prosperity.
