Mogadishu, (SONNA) \u2013 The Director of Mogadishu Port, Ambassador Mohamed Ali Nur \u201cAmeriko,\u201d hosted a farewell ceremony for the players and management of Dekedaha Football Club as they departed Somalia to participate in the CAF (Confederation of African Football) tournament in Kenya.<\/p>\n

During the event, the Port Director expressed full support for the team and encouraged the players to represent the name and flag of Somalia with honor.<\/p>\n

\u201cDekedaha represents the name of our nation, and we are committed to supporting every team that uplifts Somalia\u2019s reputation,\u201d Ambassador Ameriko said.<\/p>\n

Drawing from his experience as Somalia\u2019s former Ambassador to Kenya, he recalled the strong diaspora support when the Somali national team visited Nairobi, highlighting a friendly match that ended in a 1-1 draw and received remarkable media attention in Kenya.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe next day, Kenyan newspapers wrote commentaries expressing surprise at how Somali fans filled the stadium. One headline read: \u2018Is this Nairobi or Mogadishu?\u2019\u201d he recounted.<\/p>\n

Ambassador Ameriko praised the enduring support of the Somali diaspora for the national team and stressed the importance of unity and patriotism in standing behind Somali players who carry the nation\u2019s pride on the international stage.<\/p>\n
