Dr. Hodan Osman Abdi, today presented a copy of her Letters of Credence to the Director-General of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan, H.E. MIYASHITA Tadayuki, in Tokyo. The submission officially confirms her accreditation to Japan as a Non-Resident Ambassador.<\/p>\n<p>During the meeting, Ambassador Hodan emphasized the importance of fostering a tangible and effective partnership between Somalia and Japan, noting that collaboration in key areas of mutual interest would be accelerated.<\/p>\n<p>Japan was among the first countries to recognize Somalia\u2019s independence in 1960. However, the last Somali Ambassador to formally present credentials in Japan was H.E. Col. Hassan Abshir Farah in 1987.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s milestone reflects the vision and leadership of President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, who is prioritizing the rebuilding of Somalia\u2019s international standing and showcasing the country\u2019s progress in politics, security, economy, and social development. Somalia is re-emerging on the global stage as a nation committed to stability, reconstruction, and sustainable growth, ready for genuine partnerships based on mutual benefit.<\/p>\n<p>As one of Asia\u2019s largest economies, Japan presents a vital opportunity for Somalia in advancing economic cooperation and investment.
