Madrid, (SONNA) \u2013 The Spain\u2013Africa Summit 2025 officially opened in Madrid with the participation of high-level representatives from Spain and across the African continent. The Federal Republic of Somalia was represented by the Minister of Public Works, H.E. Dr. Elmi Mohamoud Nur, who delivered a keynote address at the opening session.<\/p>\n
In his remarks, Minister Elmi outlined Somalia\u2019s priorities in reconstruction and infrastructure development, including seaports, roads, energy, water management, and regional connectivity. He presented the country\u2019s new National Transformation Plan (2025\u20132029), which aligns with the African Union\u2019s Agenda 2063 and the Spain\u2013Africa Strategy.<\/p>\n
The Minister called on Spain and the international community to step up investment in Somalia\u2019s development sectors, emphasizing that the country is entering a new era of progress and partnership. This year, Somalia\u2019s national theme at the summit is: \u201cSomalia is not being rebuilt \u2014 it is being transformed\u201d \u2014 a message that reflects the nation\u2019s renewed focus on stability, sustainable growth, and global cooperation.<\/p>\n
