Mogadishu, (SONNA) \u2013 The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of the Federal Republic of Somalia and OYAK Group of T\u00fcrkiye have signed a strategic agreement to advance the development of Somalia\u2019s fisheries sector, a move expected to significantly contribute to the growth of the country\u2019s blue economy.<\/p>\n

The agreement focuses on several key areas, including:<\/p>\n

  1. Direct investment in fisheries infrastructure,<\/li>\n
  2. Enhancing fish production,<\/li>\n
  3. Improving fish quality to meet international export standards,<\/li>\n
  4. Establishing fish processing industries to boost exports and create employment opportunities for Somali youth,<\/li>\n
  5. Strengthening mechanisms to combat illegal, unreported, and unregulated (IUU) fishing.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    The agreement was signed by H.E. Ahmed Hassan Aden, Minister of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Somalia, and Mr. Sermaye Yat\u0131r\u0131mlar\u0131 Anonim \u015eirketi on behalf of T\u00fcrkiye\u2019s OYAK Group.<\/p>\n

    This partnership is expected to play a pivotal role in increasing revenue from Somalia\u2019s marine resources and expanding job opportunities for young people across the country.<\/p>\n

    The Ministry reiterated its strong commitment to developing the fisheries sector through close collaboration with international companies and investment institutions, aiming to achieve long-term progress and prosperity through sustainable use of Somalia\u2019s blue economy.<\/p>\n
