Mogadishu, (SONNA) \u2014 The Minister of Defence of the Federal Government of Somalia, H.E. Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, today received the Ambassador of Italy to Somalia, H.E. Pier Dacco Coppi, at his office in Mogadishu. The ambassador was accompanied by senior officials from the Italian Embassy.<\/p>\n

The meeting focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation in defence and security, with particular emphasis on accelerating the training and equipping of the Somali National Armed Forces.<\/p>\n

Minister Fiqi commended the Italian government\u2019s longstanding and vital support in strengthening Somalia\u2019s military capabilities, describing it as indispensable to the government\u2019s efforts to restore national security and stability.<\/p>\n

Both sides agreed to expand the strategic partnership between the two countries, with a focus on defence collaboration, capacity building, and the joint fight against terrorism.<\/p>\n

Minister Fiqi expressed his deep appreciation for Italy\u2019s consistent support and reaffirmed Somalia\u2019s commitment to deepening this strategic relationship to help ensure lasting peace and security in the region.<\/p>\n
