Local officials confirmed the offensive to National Media.<\/p>\n<p>In recent days, sustained military operations by national and local forces have killed numerous insurgents and liberated several strategic areas from Al-Shabaab control.<\/p>\n<p>The ongoing operation forms part of a broader campaign to dismantle the terrorist group\u2019s presence in central Somalia.
