During the visit, the delegation held important meetings with officials from the respective countries&#8217; immigration, border security, and citizenship agencies.<\/p>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"9:1-9:70\">The discussions in both capitals focused heavily on several key areas:<\/p>\n<ol data-sourcepos=\"11:1-18:0\">\n<li data-sourcepos=\"11:1-11:79\">Strengthening cooperation between the immigration and citizenship agencies.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"12:1-12:83\">Accelerating the recognition of Somali passports and facilitating legal travel.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"13:1-13:67\">Enhancing border security through the use of modern technology.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"14:1-14:121\">Modernizing ICA services, including visa processing, residency permits, passport issuance, and identity verification.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"15:1-15:63\">Preventing organized crime and combating human trafficking.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"16:1-16:52\">Improving the knowledge and skills of ICA staff.<\/li>\n<li data-sourcepos=\"17:1-18:0\">Establishing a training academy and developing a formal curriculum for staff development.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p data-sourcepos=\"19:1-19:177\">These fruitful meetings are expected to help address existing challenges, enhance the reputation of the Somali passport, and facilitate international travel for Somali citizens.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mogadishu, SONNA \u2013 A delegation led by the Director General of Somalia&#8217;s Immigration and Citizenship Agency (ICA), Mr. Mustafa Duhulow, recently concluded a working visit to Oslo, Norway, and Helsinki, Finland.
