Nairobi, (SONNA) \u2014 The Commissioner of Somalia\u2019s National Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mohamud Moallim Abdulle, has inaugurated a conference in Nairobi aimed at reducing the risks associated with the ongoing drought in Somalia.<\/p>\n

The five-day conference, jointly organized by SoDMA and the African Risk Capacity (ARC), sets the stage for developing a comprehensive drought risk reduction plan. Delegates include SoDMA officials, ARC representatives, and members of START NETWORK, which collaborates closely with SoDMA.<\/p>\n

Commissioner Abdulle highlighted that representatives from Somali government institutions \u2014 including a delegation from the Federal Parliament and the Ministry of Finance \u2014 will join the conference in the coming days.<\/p>\n

Somalia became a member of ARC in 2021 after meeting the necessary requirements, and Abdulle noted that the current focus is securing drought-related compensation to support the country\u2019s recovery efforts.<\/p>\n
