Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The <\/span><\/span>1<\/span><\/span>st<\/span><\/span> edition of the <\/span><\/span>Information and Communication Technology (ICT) <\/span><\/span>Security <\/span><\/span>Seminar, <\/span><\/span>organized by the European Union Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM-S), <\/span><\/span>was held<\/span><\/span> at the EUTM-S Headquarters<\/span><\/span> from 15<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span> to 18<\/span><\/span>th<\/span><\/span>February<\/span><\/span>. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The event was officially opened by Brigadier General Giuseppe Zizzari, the EUTM-S<\/span><\/span> Mission<\/span><\/span> Force Commander<\/span><\/span>. He emphasized that this was the first-ever Somali joint-forces seminar, marking a historic milestone in national security. The seminar’s goal was to unite and strengthen cybersecurity efforts across all branches of the military.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The seminar brought together <\/span><\/span>19<\/span><\/span> representatives from the J6 branch of the Somali National Arm<\/span><\/span>y, Navy and Air Force<\/span><\/span>, engaging them in specialized sessions aimed at enhancing their cybersecurity and ICT resilience.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The four-day seminar focused on strengthening participants\u2019 expertise in cyber defense, risk management, and the <\/span><\/span>core<\/span><\/span>principles of ICT <\/span><\/span>S<\/span><\/span>ecurity. It <\/span><\/span>featured<\/span><\/span> in-depth discussions on strategic approaches to securing communication and information systems, analyzing cyber threats, and implementing effective mitigation measures, offering tailored solutions to improve <\/span><\/span>participants\u2019 <\/span><\/span>cybersecurity posture and infrastructure resilience.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

In line<\/span><\/span> with its mission mandate, <\/span><\/span>the EUTM-S Advisor Team<\/span><\/span>continues to support the SNAF in developing a robust ICT security framework. By enhancing cyber defense capabilities and promoting a culture of information security awareness, EUTM-S remains committed to strengthening Somalia\u2019s resilience against cyber threats and reinforcing the EU\u2019s dedication to stability and security in the region.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
