Mogadishu, (SONNA) – The President of the Federal Republic of Somalia, H.E Hassan Sheikh Mohamud officially opened the 5th Session of the Federal Parliament of Somalia. In an address to a joint session of the Parliament, the President lauded the historic deliberations and review to finalize the Constitution as a significant step in the direction towards enhancing democratization, the rule of law, and ensuring that our citizens exercise their constitutional rights, including the right to vote and be elected directly.<\/p>\n

The President recalled the significant achievements registered over the past year, including the completion of the debt relief process, formal accession of the EAC blog, and lifting of the decades-long armed embargo.<\/p>\n

The President has also commended Parliament’s resolution to safeguard the sovereignty, unity and territorial integrity of our people in the face of unlawful Ethiopian transgression.<\/p>\n
