{"id":423289,"date":"2024-01-06T12:28:37","date_gmt":"2024-01-06T09:28:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/?p=423289"},"modified":"2024-01-06T12:28:37","modified_gmt":"2024-01-06T09:28:37","slug":"thousands-of-people-protest-in-burco-against-ethiopia-somaliland-mou","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/thousands-of-people-protest-in-burco-against-ethiopia-somaliland-mou\/","title":{"rendered":"Thousands of people protest in Burco against Ethiopia-Somaliland MoU"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Burco, (SONNA) &#8211; Thousands of people came out to protest in Burco city in the Togdheer region to show their anger at Ethiopia&#8217;s intentions to have access to part of Somalia&#8217;s ocean after the signing of the MoU.<\/p>\n<p>The people of Burco are against the Memorandum of Understanding between the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, Abiy Ahmed Ali and Somaliland&#8217;s President whose term has ended Muse Bihi Abdi, and the people are protesting to show the bad intentions of Ethiopia wanting the Ocean of Somalia.<\/p>\n<p>The people of Burco are saying that they do not endorse the MoU and will not accept the taking of Somalia&#8217;s ocean even if it is an inch.<\/p>\n<p>There have been several protests in the country and all are against the agreement between the two parties which claims a land that belongs to Somalia will be given to Ethiopia.
