{"id":411347,"date":"2022-12-28T07:20:37","date_gmt":"2022-12-28T07:20:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/?p=411347"},"modified":"2022-12-28T07:20:37","modified_gmt":"2022-12-28T07:20:37","slug":"kenya-one-dead-several-hospitalised-in-suspected-food-poisoning-at-royal-media","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/kenya-one-dead-several-hospitalised-in-suspected-food-poisoning-at-royal-media\/","title":{"rendered":"Kenya: One dead, several hospitalised in suspected food poisoning at Royal Media"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>One member of staff has been confirmed dead, with several others hospitalised in a suspected food poisoning at the Royal Media Services (RMS) Headquarters.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>RMS Managing Director Wachira Waruru confirmed the death, saying the media house, which owns Citizen TV, Radio Citizen and more than a dozen vernacular radio stations, was \u201cdeeply shocked and saddened\u201d by the events.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>\u201cWe are deeply shocked and saddened to inform the public that one staff member has unfortunately succumbed to the illness attributed to the suspected food poisoning.\u00a0 Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of our deceased staff member during this difficult time,\u201d said Mr Waruru.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>The RMS boss said the incident occurred after staff\u2014who were working over Christmas\u2014consumed food from a buffet prepared by a hired catering firm.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>\u201cIn keeping with holiday period working arrangements, the RMS engaged a private food catering company to provide meals for staff working during the Christmas shift. On Boxing Day December 26 2022, some of the staff complained of severe stomach pains after consuming meals served within the premises of the company,\u201d Mr Waruru added.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>Several staffers, he added, have also been hospitalized for the suspected poisoning.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"paragraph-wrapper\">\n<p>\u201cRMS is providing all the necessary support to the affected staff and suspected food poisoning incident is currently under investigation,\u201d Mr Waruru said.<\/p>\n<p>Source: Nation<\/p>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One member of staff has been confirmed dead, with several others hospitalised in a suspected food poisoning at the Royal Media Services (RMS) Headquarters.
