{"id":411248,"date":"2022-12-25T07:04:23","date_gmt":"2022-12-25T07:04:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/?p=411248"},"modified":"2022-12-25T07:04:23","modified_gmt":"2022-12-25T07:04:23","slug":"explosion-of-a-gas-tanker-kills-9-leaves-others-wounded","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/explosion-of-a-gas-tanker-kills-9-leaves-others-wounded\/","title":{"rendered":"Explosion of a gas tanker kills 9, leaves others wounded"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Johannesburg, (SONNA) &#8211; At least nine people were killed and several others injured after a gas tanker exploded on Saturday near a hospital east of Johannesburg, officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The tanker exploded after it got stuck under a low-level bridge, Simon Zwane, a spokesman for the Road Traffic Management Corporation told local broadcaster NewZroom Afrika.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt was a massive explosion that could be felt some five kilometers away,\u201d Zwane said.<\/p>\n<p>He said many people were caught up when they rushed to the scene to see what had happened when a second explosion went off, minutes later.<\/p>\n<p>He said some nearby houses in the suburb of Boksburg have also been affected.<\/p>\n<p>Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi extended his condolences to the families of those killed and wished the injured a speedy recovery.<\/p>\n<p>Simon Lapping, the area councilor, told local media that he has never seen anything like this tanker explosion before.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;There must be serious investigation as to how a truck carrying gas can go in under a low-level bridge,&#8221; he was quoted as saying by EWN, a local news site.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Source: AA<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Johannesburg, (SONNA) &#8211; At least nine people were killed and several others injured after a gas tanker exploded on Saturday near a hospital east of Johannesburg, officials said.
