{"id":407708,"date":"2021-11-28T12:11:48","date_gmt":"2021-11-28T12:11:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/?p=407708"},"modified":"2021-11-28T12:11:48","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T12:11:48","slug":"sudan-army-says-6-soldiers-killed-in-ethiopian-border-attack","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/sudan-army-says-6-soldiers-killed-in-ethiopian-border-attack\/","title":{"rendered":"Sudan army says 6 soldiers killed in Ethiopian border attack"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>(SONNA): <\/strong>Six Sudanese soldiers were killed in an attack in the disputed Al-Fashqa border area with Ethiopia, the military said on Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>The fatalities were announced by editor of the Sudanese Armed Forces newspaper, Ibrahim al-Houri.<\/p>\n<p>Al-Houri said the death toll brought to 90 the number of soldiers killed in the disputed area since December 2020.<\/p>\n<p>There was no comment from Ethiopian authorities on the report.<\/p>\n<p>On Saturday, a Sudanese military source told Anadolu Agency that two soldiers had been killed in clashes with Ethiopian forces in Al-Fashqa border area.<\/p>\n<p>With a 1,600-kilometer (994-mile) border, Sudan and Ethiopia recently renewed a dispute on the al-Fashqa Triangle, a decades-long border area lacking definite demarcation.<\/p>\n<p>While Khartoum said on Dec. 31, 2020, that it imposed its control over the Sudanese territory where Ethiopian militias were present, Addis Ababa accuses Sudan&#8217;s military of occupying Ethiopian territory, as well, a claim its northern neighbor denies.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Source: AA<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>(SONNA): Six Sudanese soldiers were killed in an attack in the disputed Al-Fashqa border area with Ethiopia, the military said on Sunday.
