Kismayo:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>\u2013<\/span>The construction of a new police station has commenced at Kismayo Seaport, in Jubaland State, which is expected to provide Somali Police Force (SPF) officers with ample office space and added operational capability to enhance security within the seaport area. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Supported by the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), the construction was launched on Monday 16<\/span>th<\/span> August 2021 at a groundbreaking ceremony presided over by the AMISOM Police Deputy Reforms Restructuring and Development Coordinator, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Alex Ndili, and attended by Jubbaland Minister of Security, Yussuf Hussein Dhumal.

Minister <\/span><\/span>Dhumal<\/span><\/span> joined SSP <\/span><\/span>Ndili<\/span><\/span> to inspect <\/span><\/span>the site, laying the first brick and handing over the construction site to contractors. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

At the function, SSP <\/span><\/span>Ndili<\/span><\/span> also launched the drilling of a water well and installation of solar panels at <\/span><\/span>Dalhiska<\/span><\/span> Police Station, also in <\/span><\/span>Kismayo<\/span><\/span>, as part of AMISOM <\/span><\/span>Police\u2019s mandate to build the capacity of the SPF.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

SSP <\/span><\/span>Ndili<\/span><\/span> called upon the SPF to work in close collaboration with AMISOM Police to ensure the smooth completion of the projects. \u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Jubbaland<\/span><\/span> security minister <\/span><\/span>Dhumal<\/span><\/span> said the newly-launched projects wi<\/span><\/span>ll be of great help to policing work in <\/span><\/span>Jubbaland<\/span><\/span>, and called on contractors implementing the work to strive for excellence.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe request the contractors tasked with executing the projects to use quality materials and standards , and also request the lead<\/span><\/span>ership of <\/span><\/span>Jubbaland<\/span><\/span>police to inspect the projects regularly so that they are on time and within budget. We thank AMISOM for these projects, and we hope that <\/span><\/span>Jubbaland<\/span><\/span>police will make good use of them,\u201d said minister <\/span><\/span>Dhumal<\/span><\/span>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

Over the years, AMISOM Poli<\/span><\/span>ce have constructed a number of police stations across Somalia, furnished them and donated office equipment including computers, as part of its mandate to build the capacity of Somali Police Force. The three projects launched on Monday in <\/span><\/span>Kismayo<\/span><\/span>are a con<\/span><\/span>tinuation of this initiative.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
