{"id":401471,"date":"2020-10-30T08:55:21","date_gmt":"2020-10-30T05:55:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/?p=401471"},"modified":"2020-10-30T08:55:21","modified_gmt":"2020-10-30T05:55:21","slug":"eu-agrees-on-distribution-process-for-vaccines","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sonna.so\/en\/eu-agrees-on-distribution-process-for-vaccines\/","title":{"rendered":"EU agrees on distribution process for vaccines"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The distribution of COVID-19 vaccines among European Union member states will be fair, EU officials said late Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel held a meeting via videoconference following an EU Leaders&#8217; Summit.<\/p>\n<p>Remarking that the current state of the pandemic in Europe is very serious, Von der Leyen said the number of hospitalized people and fatalities is significantly increasing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf we don\u2019t take action now, the spread of the pandemic will damage our health system,\u201d she noted.<\/p>\n<p>Von der Leyen also shared the latest developments regarding a COVID-19 vaccine. She said the EU had already signed purchase contracts with three different companies and negotiations with four other companies are continuing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMember states will receive the vaccines simultaneously, under the same conditions and according to their populations,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Michel stressed that EU member states agreed on a fair distribution of vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHealth workers, those with chronic diseases and senior citizens will be given priority for vaccination,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<p>@<strong>AA<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The distribution of COVID-19 vaccines among European Union member states will be fair, EU officials said late Thursday.
