Qatar deputy PM and FM receives head of UN Assistance Mission for Somalia in Doha.

Doha(SONNA)-United Nations special representative in Somalia has held talks with Qatari foreign minister on Sunday in Doha.

According to Gulf Times, Qatari Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohamed bin Abdulrahman al-Thani has received UN Special Representative for Somalia and Head of the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) James Christopher Swan at his office.

During the meeting, they reviewed the bilateral relations between Qatar and the United Nations and Somali affairs in addition to issues of common concern.

Qatar, one of Somalia’s closest allies has been helping the Horn of Africa nation to bounce back on its feet.

The country helped in rebuilding of part of its infrastructure and health sector.

In 2017, Somalia said its neutrality in the Gulf diplomatic crisis between Qatar and six Arab nations as that solidified the relationship between Somalia and Qatar.

Mogadishu said the Horn of Africa nation would take a neutral approach with a view to solving the crisis in some of the Gulf States through diplomacy and brotherly hood manner.
