Mogadishu, Thursday 25 April 2019. Officials from the Federal Republic of Somalia and the Kingdom of Norway held fruitful bilateral discussions, anchored in the spirit of enduring partnership, friendship and pursuit of mutual interests. Norway is a committed partner to Somalia’s National Development Plan and the government’s roadmaps to economic development, inclusive politics, social services development, security and justice.
The two sides reaffirmed their commitments to further deepen their bilateral engagements through an enhanced strategic partnership, underpinned by their strong working relationship and the need to synergize their efforts towards the advancement of the interests of their respective people.
The Somali delegation was led by the State Minister for Foreign Affairs, H.E. Mr. Abdulkadir Ahmed-Kheir Abdi and accompanied by other officials from the Office of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and the Ministry of Women and Human Rights.
The Norwegian delegation was led by the Director General for Regional Affairs, Ms Tine Mørch Smith and included the Ambassador to Somalia, Ms Elin Bergithe Rognlie and other senior officials from Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Norwegian Embassy .
