China: Spreading Love in Fighting COVID-19

China(SONNA) Under the strong leadership of President Xi Jinping, the Chinese people have united as one and fully leveraged the strength of socialist system in fighting COVID-19 with the most comprehensive, stringent and thorough prevention and control measures. All the efforts are taking notable effect and the situation is showing positive.

A lot of heart touching stories of love emerged from the “war without smoke”, shining the brilliance of human nature.

Healthcare workers give the broadest love, and love has no boundaries. Hailed as heroes in harm's way, tens of thousands of healthcare workers across China are fighting against the epidemic on the front line. At the beginning of the outbreak, Academician Zhong Nanshan and Academician Li Lanjuan of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, who were over 80 and 70 years old, respectively led their teams to Wuhan City and Hubei Province to fight on the front line against the epidemic.

They have practiced the healthcare workers’ purpose, mission, and responsibility with practical actions in saving patients’ lives with the greatest efforts, and interpreted the precious value of life with determination to win the fight against the epidemic.

Zhang Dingyu, president of Wuhan Jinyintan Hospital, always at the forefront at the critical moment, leads over 600 doctors and nurses confronting the disease.

He works around the clock and to treat patients and save lives. However, he didn’t tell his colleagues that in 2018 he had been diagnosed with an incurable nervous system disease: Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). He could not keep the secret any longer on the day when he couldn’t walk anymore while fighting the disease. Zhang’s leg muscles have started to shrink.

The doctor told him that the road ahead of him would not be very long, but Zhang said affirmatively, “I must run faster to win more time and get important things done.

I have to run faster to get back more patients from the virus.” At present, more than 30,000 medical workers from all over the country are working in Hubei. More than 4,000 medical personnel sent by the Chinese military are among them. They remain true to their original aspiration and keep their mission firmly in mind, and rush to the frontline of epidemic fight without hesitation.

With the spirit of enduring hardship and fighting, they always put the safety of people's lives and health first and played a pivotal role in the battle, showing strong sense of responsibility to the people and infinite respect for life.

The epidemic can be stopped while love cannot be interrupted. Many ordinary people are spreading love during the period. An old man in Rizhao, Shandong Province, went to a local department of the government, left a paper bag and hurried away.

The clerk opened it and found a stack of cash and a note reading: “Please pass it to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention in Wuhan urgently. Support medical staff.

From a sanitation worker”. That was nearly his half a year's income! A couple in Wuxi of Jiangsu Province, who had been planning to get married, donated 50,000 yuan for the expected honeymoon and 200,000 yuan for their wedding banquet. A warm-hearted citizen of Ji’nan City drove to Ji’nan West Railway Station, unloaded 250kg of disinfectant liquid and 10 spraying tools and then rushed away without leaving any information.

Three days later, the same person paid a fleeting visit to the bus company and left 100 liters of disinfectant and 4 spraying cans.

So many stories like these! Love is the call of heart, the spring breeze of the world, and the spring of life. Love is spreading on China's 9.6 million square kilometers of land, and the hearts of the 1.4 billion Chinese people are closely linked confronting the disease. Sacrificing one's family for all and putting the country before oneself has always been a spiritual hallmark of the Chinese nation ingrained in our genes.

Love, unity and dedication are the “system code”, “spiritual core” and “magic weapon” for the Chinese nation to overcome all difficulties and obstacles and march forward courageously under the leadership of the Communist Party of China.

Virus is stateless while love knows no borders. “The mountain range that stretches from you to me is under the same clouds and rain. The same moon is shinning over our heads, never been apart but in one place we remain”, which contains the Chinese nation’s spiritual pursuit of “one harmonious world, one loving family”.

This epidemic made us deeply comprehend the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind advocated by Chinese President Xi Jinping. People of all countries today live in a global village with related interests, working closely together and supported each other in times of adversity.

The tremendous efforts and sacrifice made by the Chinese people are effectively curbing the spread of the disease to other parts of the world, safeguarding the lives and health of the people globally, which have won the support and respect of the international community. Some African students studying in China took the initiative to “combat” on the frontline of the anti-virus war as volunteers.

Somali students studying in Wuhan wrote the following words on social media, “We pray for the country which gave us a safe place for study, work & business. The country we all call as our second home.

We love China, support China, and believe China will win! Although the epidemic is ruthless, there is true love on the earth.

The China-Somalia and China- Africa friendship is deep and profound, and the China-Africa community of shared future is unbreakable. The epidemic was short-lived while the friendship will last forever.

History will always remember those who are humane, broad-minded, and dedicated, and people will always bless those heroes who give the broadest love.

“Thick mountains could not stop the river from flowing into the sea.” The brilliance of human nature will eventually dispel the haze of the epidemic and the spring sunshine will spread all over the earth. “A just cause should be pursued for common good.” As President Xi Jinping has said, we have the full confidence, capacity and determination to defeat the epidemic, and China is capable of achieving its 2020 economic and social development goals and tasks.

China, surpassing the storm, is forging ahead to contribute to the common development, progress and well-being of mankind.
