Somalia, China Sign Humanitarian Assistance Agreement for Vulnerable Communities

Mogadishu (SONNA) – The Commissioner of the Somali Disaster Management Agency (SoDMA), Mahmoud Moallim Abdulle, and the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Somalia, Wang Yu, on Tuesday signed an agreement for a humanitarian assistance project funded by the Chinese Government.
The project, valued at 15 million Chinese yuan, is aimed at supporting vulnerable people affected by humanitarian crises across Somalia. The assistance will be delivered to the country’s most affected communities to strengthen ongoing relief efforts and provide essential support to those in need.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Ambassador Wang Yu reaffirmed China’s commitment to continuing its support for Somalia, particularly in the areas of humanitarian assistance and broader bilateral cooperation.
The agreement underscores the growing partnership between Somalia and China and their shared commitment to addressing humanitarian needs while supporting recovery and resilience efforts across the country.
