Mogadishu(SONNA)-The Electoral Commission of Somaliland Administration on Tuesday announced the number of voters registered in the upcoming election that is scheduled to take place on November 13 this year, SONNA reported.
Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, Abdukadir Iiman said in a statement that 704,089 people were registered to vote for the election.
” 704,089 voters registered, these people have the voting cards, there are 1,642 polling stations in Somaliland State, and every one can only cast his/her vote from the area registered”, Mr. Iiman said.
He added that the election will happen on time and as scheduled, saying they are prepared to hold it.
The three political parties, Kulmiye, Waddani and Ucid attended the event where the electoral commission was announcing the number of voters registered for the election ahead.
The Presidential election of Somaliland came to delays due to unpreparedness and droughts hit in the region according to the commission.
The current president of Somaliland State, Ahmed Mohamed Mohamud will not run for the presidency.
